FRIDAY JUNE 27 - Late Morning
Xochimilco is a district in Mexico City known for its canals, floating gardens, and colorful boats called "Trajineras". It's a World Heritage Site and a top tourist destination. The name Xochimilco is a combination of the Nahuatl words xochitl and milli and means “where the flowers grow.” Built on the site of a pre-Columbian town, Xochimilco is famous for its chinampas (floating gardens).
Hop on one of the colorful "Trajineras" and float around the canals alongside family members, mariachis, food vendors, families, and other tourists all aboard these colorful boats. While on-board, there will be food, drinks and music.
The ride is at least 2 hours but can turn into 4 or 5 so plan to spend about half a day here.
Price TBD depending on attendance.
If you and your family are interested let us know so we can arrange for transportation from the Camino Real Polanco hotel as well as reserve the number of Trajineras based on attendance. Once we know who is going we will provide more details.
Wear something comfortable, jeans or even shorts. You will be hopping from the marina onto the trajinera, between trajineras, and onto chinampas (floating gardens). It is the summer so it will definitely rain at some point during the day but it is not cold so bring your packable rain jacket.
SATURDAY JUNE 28 7 PM
Parroquia Agustiniana Cristo Rey Y Santa Mónica
The church is only 150 meters (164 yards) from the back entrance of the hotel on Leibnitz. A 2 minute walk.
When you get to the church, the daily 6:00 pm mass will be ending close to 7:00 PM. It is ok to enter the church while folks are walking out.
After the mass you can walk back to the hotel and go to Salón Mathías at the Hotel Camino Real Polanco.
SATURDAY JUNE 28 FROM 8 PM - 2 AM
Hotel Camino Real Polanco
When you arrive at Salón Mathías, you will be greeted with a non-alchoholic welcome drink and will be informed of your seating arrangements.
Mexico City traffic is no joke!
From Colonia Roma to the hotel, which is approximately 3 miles, it has taken us 1 to 1.5 hours on Fridays by car so plan accordingly. Saturday traffic may be lighter but I wouldn't count on it.
If you are staying at Camino Real Polanco, the walk to the church is about 2 minutes.
If you are staying elsewhere we recommend you take an Uber. Uber's are less expensive in CDMX compared to the USA.
